Troy Victorian Stroll 2011

Today marked the 29th annual Troy Victorian Stroll downtown Troy, NY. Since I took photographs of the Saratoga Victorian Streetwalk in 2010 and I had not been to the Victorian Stroll since 2006, it seemed only fair I give a little love to the Collar City on this beautiful day. The historic streets of Troy were packed once again for this annual holiday tradition and I have no doubt you will find hundreds of photos online come tomorrow, featuring bedazzled ... Saratoga Victorian Streetwalk 2010

Thursday marked the 24th annual Victorian Streetwalk downtown Saratoga Springs, NY. I was in town to support my friend Zoë Lobdell for her first photo show and decided to hit the main avenue a little later. It was packed. Broadway was blocked from 6 to 10 p.m. and thousands of people had gathered despite the frigid cold. If you are not familiar with this American tradition, imagine an old-fashioned street party in celebration of the holiday season. Add people in ... Continue Reading

Wolff’s Oktoberfest 2010

Is Wolff's Oktoberfest stomping on LarkFEST? Matt Baumgartner's German love child turned one last Saturday and boy did he get much much bigger. The 2009 edition was a success but I guesstimated at least 3 times more people showed up this year to engulf a record-breaking amount of beer and sausage. Best of all, everybody seem pretty well behaved, I saw more obnoxious drunks the week before on Lark. Victim of its success, the event experienced a few issues to ... Continue Reading

Happy 4th of July 2010

I'm leaving town for a few days, on a surprise road trip. I've no clue where we are going, but I'm pretty sure there won't be any fireworks in the sticks. There might not even be any Interwebs, oh noooo. I'll bring my camera with me of course, just in case Sasquatch gets frisky. This is the first time in a while I'm not in Albany to take photos of the pretty lights in the sky. This blog wasn't around ... Continue Reading

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day. Another great morning in the Capital District. People gathered en masse near the Education Building to cheer the Memorial Parade 2010. While I have strong opinions on the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, now is not the time: there is an obvious respect to be paid to those who helped liberate my country back then. We do have a similar day in France, but it doesn't feel quite like the same commitment (cue “surrender” jokes). A few ... Continue Reading
