Victorian Picnic

Victorian Picnic

Sometimes the strangest opportunities manifest themselves when you least expect them. I was taking pictures of the World Naked Bike Ride 2010 last week, patiently waiting for a few brave souls to finish their ride through Washington Park, when I spotted a small group of people across the lawn. I wasn't quite sure at first... were they all in Victorian attires, or did my Flux Capacitor accidentally reach 88 miles per hour? I started taking a few photos from a ... Continue Reading

Seward Johnson Sculpture Walking Tour

The Downtown Albany BID is bringing 16 life-sized human statues and one monumental sculpture to the streets of downtown Albany from June through October 2010. This body of work by J. Seward Johnson, an American artist known for his hyper-realistic imagery, is part of a collection of 250 cast bronze figures depicting people of all ages engaged in day-to-day activities. I invite you to take a nice, long walk downtown Albany and take a closer look at these sculptures. Bring ... Continue Reading

World Naked Bike Ride 2010

It's World Naked Bike Ride day! Every year, in cities around the world, people ride bikes "as bare as they dare" to celebrate cycling and the human body. The ride demonstrates the vulnerability of cyclists on the road and is a protest against oil dependency. WNBR advocates and celebrates sustainable energy, environmentally-responsible living, human-powered transport and body-positive values. Check the F.A.Q., it answers questions you've always wondered about: "Isn't riding naked uncomfortable?", "What does it feel like to ride nude?", ... Continue Reading

Picnic at the Empire State Plaza

Greetings from the Empire State Plaza! I'm the guy on the right with the smug French face :) It's Lunch Week at All Over Albany and I figured I would send them a little something, they have always been good to me. It's pretty much what it sounds like: a whole week with posts about... lunch, featuring contributions from local food bloggers. This Friday, June 18, AOA will do a post about what everyone had for lunch this week. Specifically, ... Continue Reading

Capital Pride 2010

The annual Capital Pride Festival took place today in Albany's Washington Park, starting with the traditional parade in Center Square. The Capital Pride itself kicked off Tuesday June 1st with a flag raising at City Hall; there were 40 events throughout the 13 days of Pride, culminating with the Parade and Festival. Unfortunately it rained a lot this weekend, Capital-District-"where is my goddamn' summer?"-style, bringing fewer participants and floats. A good turnout nonetheless. This year marked the 40th Anniversary of ... Continue Reading

Moon Glow in Cambridge, NY

I have wanted to take photos of hot balloons for a while now. My buddy Paul shot a beautiful panorama of the Adirondack Balloon Festival in 2008, but I was unable to make it last year. Let's blame it on the heavy rain or the impossibly early hour. 5AM, that's crazy talk. Last weekend my friend C. and I laughed at the tornado alert and drove to Cambridge, NY to check the Moon Glow at the Cambridge Valley Balloon Festival ... Continue Reading

Freihofer’s Run for Women 2010

A few photos from the Freihofer's Run 2010, which took place a few days ago, Saturday, June 5th. I definitely enjoy taking pictures of this event every year. There is really something genuine and powerful in the faces of the runners when they cross the finish line, something raw. I feel a lot of amateur photographers strive to capture great, natural human expressions: this is by no means easy. If it is something you are into, I recommend bringing your ... Continue Reading

Community Balloon

Local singer/producer and all-around talented guy Matthew Carefully has a new album out, “Community Ballon”. I invite you to check his work, it will bring a smile to your face and raise your karma. Contributing to this adventure with my photographer buddy Bennett “Valerie” Campbell was a great pleasure, and honest fun. I do not believe in creating contents in a vacuum; while I have the chance to share my photos on this blog, there are only a few opportunities ... Continue Reading
